Review and editing process

Peer review:

All solicited and unsolicited contributions submitted for publication will be peer reviewed by members of the editorial staff. All submissions to the College & University Media Review will be acknowledged immediately. It is anticipated that author(s) will be advised of the editorial board's decision within three months after receipt of the contribution. The editorial staff will recommend one of the following: (1) Accept with no (or minor) revisions, (2) Accept conditionally with specified revisions, or (3) Reject.

Editing:

The editor reserves the right to edit all contributions and will only contact authors for clarification, as needed.

Final acceptance:

The final decision as to whether a contribution will be published lies with the editor and editor-in-chief.

Publication process

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author(s) will be expected to provide the following:

Submission:

Each contribution, edited in its final form, should be submitted to the editor either as an attachment to an e-mail message (send to mkschnei@uiuc.edu) or on disk (PC or Macintosh). Most common word processing software can be accepted; MS Word for Windows is preferred. One hard copy version of the manuscript must be sent to the editor by FAX or mail may be required so that the author(s)' intended formatting can be determined. Authors should keep document formatting to an absolute minimum. Do not use headers or footers, page numbers, indents other than tabs, or line spacing other than single or double spacing. The preferred format for graphics files is TIFF. GIF, JPEG, and PICT files are not acceptable. Disks should be clearly labeled with author name(s), file name(s), software used, and date.

Release form:

A signed release form must be received by the editor before a contribution can be published. The form authorizes CCUMC to publish the contribution, specifies whether copyright is retained by the author(s) or assigned to CCUMC, and certifies that the contribution has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

Photo:

Although not required, a recent b&w photograph of each author is desired and strongly encouraged.
