Responsibilities and Duties:
The treasurer is responsible for:
- chairing the Finance Committee.
- working with the executive director to ensure that the treasurer is bonded.
- issuing checks for budgeted expenses in a timely manner following approval by the president (faxed copies of expense sheets and bills are acceptable).
- establishing procedures to keep payments flowing during absences greater than one week and submitting a back-up plan for approval by the board of directors.
- ensuring adherence to guidelines established for the expenditure of consortium funds.
- providing a treasurer's report, which includes a statement of net worth, a budget report within budget categories, and appropriate conference profit/loss reports at all meetings of the board of directors and the general membership.
- providing the executive director with all information necessary for account reconciliation.
- preparing and submitting Federal Non-Profit Tax Report.
- submitting a summary of income and expenses for the year ending to the executive director for inclusion in the annual report.
