Eldred v. Ashcroft

This case involves a constitutional challenge of the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act (CTEA, 1998), which extends by 20 years both existing copyrights and future copyrights. Eric Eldred is the lead plaintiff, and on May 20, 2002, opening amicus briefs in his support were filed in the Supreme Court, where arguments will be heard in the fall (date to be set).
