Computer Comforts, Inc. introduced a new product this fall, designed for organizing hardware in the electronic classroom. The SPACE SAVER 3030 is a space-efficient instructor work center that also will securely manage all teaching tools in your smart classroom (LCD, CPU, VCR, DVD, etc.).
Although the SPACE SAVER was designed to use a minimal amount of floor space (30"W °— 30"D), it will offer maximum flexibility for faculty and IT staff. The rack mount module provides 12 rack units (21"H) of space for adjustable shelves or rack mountable components. A locking rear door is included to prevent tampering. The “faculty friendly” design allows easy access to all hardware. All components are secured with an internal security cable with lock. Additional hardware security can be accomplished by adding custom rack shelves with face plates and tamper-proof screws, which are optional. This secure “open-access” concept eliminates the need for a front door. Faculty will not be required to have keys.
Other features include table top power with cable manager. This desktop module will hold all cables necessary for notebook computer connections (power, data, VGA, and audio). The flip-up side surface can be used for a document camera or as extra workspace. The keyboard also can be placed on this lower surface to make the SPACE SAVER wheelchair-compliant (ADA). The LCD monitor can be lowered into position for comfortable viewing from a seated position. The SPACE SAVER sells for $950 (LCD arm and rack shelves are optional).
